Pass Along Soccer Supplies
Giving Soccer Gear a Second Life
Kids Care to Share is proud to co-launch the PASS (Pass Along Soccer Supplies) Program, a new collaborative initiative that gives gently used soccer uniforms and equipment a second life while helping children around the world experience the joy of the game.
Through a partnership with FC Europa, one of the Philadelphia region's premier youth soccer clubs, and Pathways Development Initiative (PDI), a nonprofit serving underserved communities in rural Uganda, the PASS Program collects gently used soccer gear and delivers it to boys and girls who otherwise would not have access to the equipment needed to play.
How the PASS Program Began
As current and former FC Europa players, we noticed that every two years, players receive new uniforms as they grow. Hundreds of jerseys, shorts, socks, and cleats—many still in excellent condition—were being stored away or discarded.
We wondered:
"What if these uniforms could become someone else's first uniform?"
With that question, we approached FC Europa's coaches and club leadership with an idea: collect retired uniforms at the end of each uniform cycle and give them a new home where they could continue making a difference.
The idea quickly gained support from FC Europa’s amazing leadership. FC Europa coach Dezi Zaale, who helped establish the soccer program through PDI in Uganda, recognized the opportunity to expand an existing partnership. Together, Kids Care to Share, FC Europa, and PDI are working to ensure that more children have the chance to experience teamwork, confidence, and the joy of soccer.
